Charcoal Kiln
The Charcoal Kiln converts wood into coal, which is required for smelting ores into metal bars. It is one of the first processing structures players unlock and is essential for Bronze and later metal progression.

🔥 How It Works
- Holds up to 25 Wood.
- Produces Coal automatically over time.
- Each Wood produces 1 Coal.
Coal is required to process ore in a Smelter or Blast Furnace.
🏗 Placement Tips
- Place next to Smelters for efficiency.
- Multiple Kilns reduce bottlenecks.
- Shelter not required.
- Keep storage nearby for bulk wood.
Large metal projects often require multiple Kilns.
⚠ Common Mistakes
- Underestimating coal demand.
- Building only one Kiln.
- Not maintaining wood supply.
Iron-tier progression especially requires heavy coal production.
🛠 Strategy Tips
- Build at least 2 Kilns once entering Swamp tier.
- Create a dedicated woodcutting area.
- Keep Kilns fueled before large smelting sessions.
- Combine with coastal smelting hubs.
