The Elder is the second Forsaken boss in Valheim and the main obstacle to early progression. Defeating The Elder unlocks access to the Swamp by providing the key needed for Sunken Crypts and iron-tier advancement.

📍 How To Find The Elder
The Elder’s summoning altar can be located using a Vegvisir rune stone found in the Black Forest, often near stone tower ruins or deep forest structures. Activating the rune marks the boss altar on your map.
The altar is typically found in a forest clearing with large stone pillars.
🔮 How To Summon
To summon The Elder:
- Place 3 × Ancient Seed on the altar.
- Activate the altar to begin the fight.
- Prepare for ranged pressure and root attacks.
⚔️ Boss Fight Mechanics
The Elder is a massive ancient tree creature that combines ranged attacks with area denial.
Abilities include:
- **Root Vines** – Spawns damaging roots around the player, restricting movement.
- **Ranged Vine Shot** – Fires long-range projectiles that hit hard.
- **Melee Slam** – High damage close-range attacks if you get too close.
