Gjall

From Valheim Wiki

Gjall

The Gjall is a massive flying enemy found in the Mistlands. Slow but extremely dangerous, it attacks from the air with explosive fire projectiles and can deploy Ticks, making it one of the most threatening creatures in the biome.

🌍 Overview

Biome Mistlands
Type Flying Siege Enemy
Health Very High
Tameable No
Drops Gjall Trophy, Bilebag

πŸ“ Spawning

Gjall spawn in the Mistlands:

  • Roaming above rocky terrain
  • Near Infested Mines
  • In deeper mist-covered regions

They are highly visible and audible due to their large size and distinctive sound.

βš”οΈ Behaviour

Gjall are airborne siege-style enemies.

They:

  • Float above ground rather than landing.
  • Launch explosive fire projectiles at range.
  • Spawn or drop Tick enemies during combat.
  • Maintain aerial positioning while attacking.

Their fire attacks deal heavy damage and can set players ablaze.

πŸ›  Combat Strategy

  • Always carry a Wisp Light to maintain visibility.
  • Use high-damage ranged weapons to bring them down safely.
  • Clear spawned Ticks quickly to avoid being overwhelmed.
  • Use terrain or structures for projectile cover.
  • Maintain fire resistance and strong stamina food.

Fighting a Gjall in open terrain without preparation can be lethal.

⛏ Weaknesses

Gjall:

  • Take consistent damage from ranged weapons.
  • Are vulnerable to sustained bow attacks.
  • Are easier to fight in areas with natural cover.

Because they remain airborne, melee engagement is rarely viable.

⚠ Threat Level

Gjall are one of the most dangerous enemies in the Mistlands due to:

  • Extremely high health.
  • Aerial bombardment capability.
  • Fire damage over time.
  • Deployment of additional enemies mid-fight.

They function almost like roaming mini-bosses within the biome.
